Morgan Newsoroff Zapata

Multidisciplinary Artist

Morgan Newsoroff Zapata is a multidisciplinary artist, but most recently focuses on painting. Morgan draws her inspiration from folktales, motherhood, the natural world and storytelling.

“We all have a limited amount of time here on the planet, in this human incarnation. If motherhood has taught me anything so far it is that time is precious and I plan to use my time surrounded by friends, family and to create beauty where I can through any medium. I pull inspiration from Outsider art, Folk art, mysticism, child-like wonder and fairytales as all of these influences have the existing commonality of everyday people celebrating mundane life and transmuting it into something more magical than they found it. These aspects inspire me to depict little moments that may seem commonplace, but with a closer look can appear vibrant and mystical. Folk artists create for the sake of creating, to make life beautiful whether it be through the means of a hand painted doorway or an embellished piece of cardboard. This attitude inspires me to celebrate beauty, not as a vain endeavor but as an act of love for life.”

Currently lives & works in Spring, TX as a mother, painter and teacher at The Woodlands Academy of Art.
